"We're all just walking each other home." Ram Dass
It's been a long way from home for this little girl, carefully packing her suitcase well over 60 years ago. Born in Germany of a French mother and an English father who joined the British diplomatic service to see the world, we did indeed see the world: from Germany to Los Angeles; Port au Prince, Haiti during the time of Papa Doc; tiny Barbados (13 by 7 miles); Mbabane, Swaziland (where's that?!); Ankara, Turkey; full circle back to Germany where I had my first full-time job at 22 working at the British Bookshop in Frankfurt. From Haiti, age 11, I peeled off from my parents and followed my big sister to a convent boarding school in England. I spent a year in France at the University of Montpellier, followed by four at UEA (University of East Anglia) in Norwich, England studying Comparative Literature with French Honors. A year after that, I came to Pennsylvania to visit my best friend from Montpellier and married her brother six months later. Still happily married forty-plus years later! We drove across country in 1983 and eventually settled in Long Beach, California. After careers ranging from hotel concierge to kindergarten teacher, taking time out to mother our beautiful daughter,
I began studying yoga and meditation in 2005.
More years pass under the bridge before we land right here on this website uniting three of my passions:
Meditation, The Good Grief Group, SoulCollage
And now here we are, tentatively coming out of hibernation from the global pandemic, and nothing is as it was.
I look forward to the day we emerge from our chrysalises as beautiful butterflies.
